Newton Corner Neighborhood Association
Meeting Agenda
Thursday, April 20, 2023
Greetings to all members of the Newton Corner Neighborhood Association!
We are pleased to welcome Josh Ostroff, City of Newton Director of Transportation Planning, as our guest speaker at the upcoming NCNA meeting on April 20 at 7:30 p.m. In addition to having been an elected member of the Natick Board of Selectmen from 2006 to 2016 and an elected town meeting member for 20 years, Josh has served on the board of the Massachusetts Municipal Association, including a term as president. He will address issues raised in the March 1 MassDOT meeting with the neighborhood regarding the Newton Corner Rotary. A map of the roadway jurisdiction is included below.
Before Josh begins his presentation, however, we will quickly review other items of community concern.
1. Farlow Park:
Thanks to the efforts of Representative Kay Khan and Councilor Maria Scibelli Greenberg, Newton Corner is in the finals for an appropriation of $250,000 to repair the surface of the pond and provide much-needed restoration and repainting of Chaffin House.
A request for three to four Piano Pals to help care for this year’s Artful Piano in the park from early summer to early autumn. This involves uncovering the piano in the morning and covering it in the evenings or when rain threatens.
A request for volunteers for NewtonSERVES on Sunday, May 7. The following link offers opportunities to participate in both the Farlow Park cleanup and the Bigelow School cleanup:

2. A request for a Facebook facilitator to grow our presence by linking the NCNA to other Facebook groups in Newton.
3. Recent activities regarding the status of 41 Washington Street.
After this update, Nate Gibson, the NCNA transportation coordinator, will pose some specific questions to Josh Ostroff to begin the conversation about Mass DOT and where we go from here.
Looking forward to seeing you on Zoom this coming Thursday, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the email address below.
Warmly,
Robin Boger
President, Newton Corner Neighborhood Association
